Surgical smoke evacuator
A surgical smoke evacuator captures and filters the smoke plume produced when electrosurgery, lasers or ultrasonic devices cut tissue. It is used in operating theatres, day surgery units, dermatology and gynaecology clinics to reduce staff exposure to plume.
Common types
- Stand-alone evacuator: a mobile unit with its own pump and filter, connected to a capture device.
- Integrated evacuator: built into or connected to the electrosurgical generator, starting automatically on activation.
- Laparoscopic filter system: filters smoke from the insufflated abdomen through a port.
- Capture devices: smoke evacuation pencils, wands and tubing that bring plume to the unit.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Suction flow rate and noise level
- Filter type (ULPA or HEPA plus activated carbon) and filter life in hours
- Automatic activation linked to the electrosurgical unit
- Capture devices needed: pencils, tubing, laparoscopic filters, with diameters
- Starter quantity of filters and consumables
- Power supply voltage, frequency and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, IEC 60601-1 test reports, and conformity to ISO 16571 for plume evacuation systems.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
How often do filters need changing?
Each filter has a rated life in hours of use, and many units show remaining filter life on the display. Ask for the rated life and the filter price, as filters are the main running cost.
Send us the specification and quantity. We compare manufacturers in China and reply with options, lead times and the documents that come with each product. NJMC sources and checks; it does not manufacture.
