Surgical navigation and robotics
Surgical navigation systems track instruments against the patient's images in real time, and surgical robots hold or guide instruments along a planned path. They are used in neurosurgery, spine, orthopaedic joint replacement, ENT and some general and urological surgery.
Common types
- Optical navigation: infrared cameras track reflective markers on instruments and the patient.
- Electromagnetic navigation: a field generator tracks small sensors, with no line-of-sight needed, common in ENT.
- Orthopaedic robot: guides bone cuts or implant placement in knee, hip or spine surgery.
- Soft tissue surgical robot: multi-arm system controlled from a surgeon console for laparoscopic procedures.
- Planning software: builds 3D plans from CT or MRI before surgery, sometimes with augmented reality display.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Specialty and procedures the system must support
- Tracking method (optical or electromagnetic) and compatible imaging (CT, MRI, intraoperative C-arm or cone beam CT data)
- Instrument sets, reference arrays and single-use items per case
- Image import format (DICOM) and network connection to the hospital PACS
- Training, installation and service terms, including software updates
- Room size and power supply voltage and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and IEC 60601-1 test reports. For robots, IEC 80601-2-77 for robotically assisted surgical equipment applies, and software documentation to IEC 62304 is often requested.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
What is the running cost beyond the system price?
Many systems use single-use items per case, such as markers, drapes or instrument adaptors, plus annual service and software fees. Ask for the cost per procedure and the service contract terms in the same quotation.
Send us the specification and quantity. We compare manufacturers in China and reply with options, lead times and the documents that come with each product. NJMC sources and checks; it does not manufacture.
