Surgical instruments
Surgical instruments are the hand-held, usually reusable tools used to cut, grasp, hold, retract and clamp tissue during surgery. They are supplied singly or in sets for general, orthopaedic, gynaecological, ENT, neurosurgical and microsurgical procedures.
Common types
- General surgery sets: scissors, dissecting and tissue forceps, haemostats, needle holders and retractors for common procedures.
- Specialty sets: instruments shaped for orthopaedics, gynaecology, ENT, urology or cardiovascular surgery.
- Microsurgical instruments: fine, often titanium instruments for neurosurgery, ophthalmology and vascular work.
- Single-use instruments: sterile disposable items for low-resource settings or infection control policies.
- Laparoscopic hand instruments: long shaft graspers, scissors and dissectors for minimally invasive surgery.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Exact instrument list with pattern names, lengths and tip types
- Material grade (for example martensitic stainless steel or titanium) and finish (satin or mirror)
- Tungsten carbide inserts for needle holders and scissors where needed
- Set contents, sterilisation container or tray, and instrument identification marking
- Reusable or single-use, and for single-use items the sterilisation method
- Quantities per set and packaging
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, material certificates for the steel, and reprocessing instructions. Sterile single-use items also need ISO 11135 or ISO 11137 sterilisation validation.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
What does 'German stainless steel' mean on a quotation?
It usually describes the steel grade or origin of the raw material, not where the instrument was made. Ask for the actual steel grade and a material certificate rather than relying on the label.
Send us the specification and quantity. We compare manufacturers in China and reply with options, lead times and the documents that come with each product. NJMC sources and checks; it does not manufacture.
