Orthopaedic implant

Orthopaedic implants are plates, screws, nails, wires, spinal systems and joint prostheses that fix fractures, stabilise the spine or replace joints. They are used in trauma, spine, joint replacement and paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

Common types

  • Trauma plates and screws: locking and non-locking plates in anatomical shapes for each bone.
  • Intramedullary nails: rods placed inside the long bones, such as femoral and tibial nails.
  • External fixators: frames outside the limb, including ring fixators of the Ilizarov type.
  • Spinal implants: pedicle screw systems, rods, cages and cervical plates.
  • Joint replacement prostheses: hip, knee and shoulder components.

  • Material: titanium alloy, stainless steel, cobalt chromium or PEEK
  • Locking or non-locking, and screw diameters compatible with the plates
  • Instrument sets needed to insert the implants
  • Sterile or non-sterile supply, and packaging with traceability labels
  • Imaging compatibility statements where needed
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, material certificates against ISO 5832 or the matching ASTM material standard, and ISO 10993 biocompatibility data. Sterile implants also need ISO 11135 or ISO 11137 validation.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

Do we buy the instruments or are they loaned?

Both models exist. Some buyers purchase the instrument sets with a stock of implants, while others receive instruments on loan with a consignment of implants. State which model you need in the request.
