Surgical light
A surgical light gives bright, shadow-reduced, colour-accurate illumination of the operating field. Ceiling-mounted lights serve operating theatres, while mobile and wall-mounted lights serve minor procedure rooms, emergency departments and examination areas.
Common types
- Ceiling-mounted LED light: one or more light heads on spring arms, the standard choice for main theatres.
- Double or triple head system: two or three heads on one central axis, often with a monitor arm for endoscopic work.
- Mobile surgical light: on a wheeled stand with a battery option, for rooms without ceiling mounting.
- Wall-mounted or examination light: a smaller single head for minor procedures, wound care and examination.
- Halogen light: older lamp technology, still offered at lower cost but with more heat and shorter bulb life.

Documents to ask for
Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and test reports to IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-41, the particular standard for surgical and diagnostic luminaires.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Is one light head enough for an operating theatre?
For a main theatre, two heads are usual so that a second beam fills in shadows cast by the surgical team. A single head is common in minor procedure rooms and examination areas.
