Medical laser

A medical laser delivers a focused beam of light at a set wavelength to cut, vaporise, coagulate or fragment tissue or stones. Different wavelengths serve urology, ENT, gynaecology, dermatology, ophthalmology and general surgery.

Common types

  • Holmium laser: widely used for stone fragmentation and prostate enucleation in urology.
  • Thulium laser: used in urology for prostate and stone work, available in solid-state and fibre forms.
  • CO2 laser: absorbed strongly by water, used for precise cutting and vaporisation in ENT, gynaecology and dermatology.
  • Diode laser: compact, used in vascular, dental, ENT and soft tissue procedures.
  • Nd:YAG laser: deeper penetration, used for coagulation and in some ophthalmic and dermatology systems.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

  • Laser type and wavelength, and the clinical applications intended
  • Maximum output power, pulse energy and frequency range
  • Delivery system: fibre sizes, reusable or single-use fibres, articulated arm or handpieces
  • Cooling method and room requirements (power supply, water, ventilation)
  • Safety accessories: protective eyewear for the wavelength, door interlock, warning signs
  • Power supply voltage, phase, frequency and plug type
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and test reports to IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-22 for surgical and therapeutic lasers, and IEC 60825-1 for laser product safety.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

Do laser fibres need to be bought separately?

Usually yes. Fibres come in several core sizes and as reusable or single-use items, and they are often the main running cost, so ask for fibre prices and expected uses per fibre with the quotation.
