Lithotripter
A lithotripter breaks urinary and biliary stones into small fragments so they can pass or be removed. Extracorporeal shock wave units work from outside the body, while intracorporeal devices and stone retrieval accessories are used through endoscopes in urology.
Common types
- Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripter (ESWL): focuses shock waves through the skin, guided by X-ray or ultrasound.
- Pneumatic lithotripter: a probe strikes the stone mechanically through a ureteroscope or nephroscope.
- Ultrasonic lithotripter: a hollow probe vibrates and aspirates fragments, used in percutaneous surgery.
- Laser lithotripsy: holmium or thulium laser energy delivered through a fibre.
- Stone retrieval accessories: baskets, graspers and ureteral access sheaths.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Lithotripsy type and intended procedures (ESWL, ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy)
- For ESWL: shock wave source, focal size, localisation method (X-ray, ultrasound or both) and patient table
- For intracorporeal units: probe diameters and lengths matching the endoscopes in use
- Consumables: probes, baskets, access sheaths, with sizes and quantities
- Room and shielding requirements for X-ray localisation
- Power supply voltage, phase and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and test reports to IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-36 for extracorporeally induced lithotripsy equipment. Sterile accessories need ISO 11135 or ISO 11137 validation.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Do the probes fit our existing endoscopes?
Only if the probe diameter and length match the working channel and length of your scopes. List your scope models and channel sizes in the request.
