ECMO / cardiopulmonary bypass
Heart-lung machines and ECMO systems take over the work of the heart and lungs by pumping blood through an oxygenator outside the body. Heart-lung machines are used during open heart surgery, and ECMO supports critically ill patients in intensive care.
Common types
- Heart-lung machine: a console with several roller or centrifugal pumps for cardiac surgery.
- ECMO console: a compact centrifugal pump system for longer support in intensive care and transport.
- Oxygenators: single-use membrane oxygenators with integrated heat exchangers.
- Circuits and cannulae: tubing packs, arterial and venous cannulae in adult and paediatric sizes.
- Heater-cooler units: control blood temperature through the oxygenator heat exchanger.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Use case: cardiac surgery, ICU ECMO or transport
- Number and type of pumps (roller or centrifugal) and monitoring modules (pressure, flow, bubble, level)
- Oxygenator size and rated blood flow for adult, paediatric or neonatal patients
- Cannula types and sizes, and circuit coating
- Battery duration and transport mounting
- Power supply voltage and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, IEC 60601-1 test reports for consoles, ISO 7199 for blood gas exchangers (oxygenators), and ISO 11135 or ISO 11137 sterilisation validation for disposables.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Can any oxygenator be used on our console?
Oxygenators and pump heads are often maker-specific, especially for centrifugal pumps. Confirm that the disposables offered are approved for use with your console model.
