Interventional consumables

Interventional consumables are the single-use catheters, balloons, guidewires, sheaths and accessories used in catheter-based procedures. They are used in cardiac catheterisation labs, interventional radiology and vascular suites for angioplasty, diagnostic imaging and device delivery.

Common types

  • Balloon catheters: angioplasty balloons for coronary (PTCA) and peripheral (PTA) use, including drug-coated balloons.
  • Guiding and diagnostic catheters: shaped catheters that reach and image target vessels.
  • Guidewires: in different diameters, stiffness and tip shapes for crossing lesions.
  • Introducer sheaths: give vascular access through the radial or femoral artery.
  • Accessories: inflation devices, Y-connectors, manifolds and haemostasis valves.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

  • Product type and intended vessel (coronary, peripheral, neuro)
  • Size matrix: French size, balloon diameter and length, or guidewire diameter and length
  • Catheter curve shapes and access route (radial or femoral)
  • Compatibility between guidewire, catheter and sheath sizes
  • Quantities per size and sterile packaging
  • Minimum remaining shelf life on delivery
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers typically ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, ISO 11135 or ISO 11137 sterilisation validation, ISO 10555 for intravascular catheters and ISO 11070 for introducers and guidewires.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

How should we list sizes in a request for balloons?

List each balloon diameter and length you need with a quantity, plus the shaft type and guidewire size. A clear size matrix lets makers quote line by line and avoids substitutions.
