Biochemistry analyser
A biochemistry analyser measures chemical substances in serum, plasma or urine, such as glucose, liver enzymes, kidney markers, lipids and electrolytes. It is a core instrument in hospital laboratories, private labs and larger clinics.
Common types
- Fully automatic benchtop analyser: suited to small and medium laboratories with moderate daily volumes.
- Floor standing high throughput analyser: built for central hospital labs running thousands of tests per hour.
- Semi automatic analyser: the operator pipettes samples and reagents, and the instrument reads and calculates results.
- Dry chemistry analyser: uses reagent slides or strips, so no liquid reagent preparation is needed.
- Analyser with ISE module: adds direct measurement of sodium, potassium and chloride.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Photometric throughput in tests per hour, with and without ISE
- Number of reagent positions and whether the reagent tray is refrigerated
- Open or closed reagent channels
- Sample tray capacity and STAT sample handling
- Water consumption and need for a separate water purification unit
- LIS connection, power supply and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Typical requests are CE marking under the EU IVDR or local IVD registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and IEC 61010-1 and IEC 61010-2-101 test reports. Laboratories also ask for reagent registration documents and calibrator traceability statements.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Does a biochemistry analyser need purified water?
Most fully automatic analysers need a supply of purified laboratory water for washing cuvettes and probes. The maker states the water grade and daily consumption, and a matching water purification unit is often quoted with the analyser.
