Disinfectant

Disinfectants are chemical products that kill or inactivate microorganisms on skin, surfaces or instruments. Hospitals, clinics, laboratories and public facilities use them for hand hygiene, surface cleaning and instrument reprocessing.

Common types

  • Alcohol hand rub: gel or liquid for hand disinfection.
  • Surface disinfectant: liquid, spray or wipes for hard surfaces.
  • Instrument disinfectant: high level disinfectant for semi critical devices.
  • Chlorine based disinfectant: tablets or liquid for spills and surfaces.
  • Skin antiseptic: chlorhexidine or povidone iodine solutions.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

  • Active ingredient and concentration
  • Intended use: hands, surfaces or instruments
  • Contact time and spectrum of activity
  • Format and pack size
  • Material compatibility
  • Shelf life and storage
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers request efficacy test reports such as EN 1500 for hand rubs, EN 13727 and EN 14476 for medical areas, the safety data sheet and the relevant registration (in the EU, hand and surface disinfectants are biocidal products under Regulation (EU) 528/2012). Instrument disinfectants are often regulated as medical devices.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

Why does contact time matter?

Efficacy claims are based on a surface remaining wet for a stated time. If the product dries earlier, the claimed effect may not be reached.
