Hyperbaric oxygen chamber
A hyperbaric oxygen chamber is a pressure vessel in which a patient breathes oxygen at a pressure higher than the atmosphere. It is used in hospitals and specialist centres for conditions such as decompression illness, carbon monoxide poisoning and selected wounds.
Common types
- Monoplace chamber: holds one patient, usually pressurised with oxygen.
- Multiplace chamber: holds several patients and an attendant, pressurised with air, with oxygen given by mask or hood.
- Soft or low-pressure chamber: inflatable units at low pressure, sold in some markets for wellness use and not equivalent to clinical chambers.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Chamber type, number of seats or beds and internal dimensions
- Maximum working pressure and pressurisation gas
- Oxygen delivery method (mask, hood or chamber atmosphere) and gas supply requirements
- Fire safety system, communication, monitoring and video
- Control console, installation, site requirements and operator training
- Power supply voltage and phase
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or the destination country's registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, pressure vessel certification for the chamber, and for multiplace chambers conformity to EN 14931 or ASME PVHO-1.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Is a soft chamber suitable for a hospital?
Soft chambers work at low pressure and are not the same as clinical monoplace or multiplace chambers. Hospitals treating recognised indications usually specify rigid chambers with pressure vessel certification.
Send us the specification and quantity. We compare manufacturers in China and reply with options, lead times and the documents that come with each product. NJMC sources and checks; it does not manufacture.
