Adhesive bandage and medical tape
Adhesive bandages and medical tapes are skin-adhering products used to cover small wounds and to secure dressings, tubes and cannulas. They are used in wards, theatres, clinics, pharmacies, first-aid kits and home care.
Common types
- Adhesive bandage or plaster: a small pad on an adhesive strip for minor cuts.
- Paper tape: a gentle, breathable tape for securing dressings on fragile skin.
- Silk or plastic tape: a stronger tape for securing tubes and lines.
- Zinc oxide tape: a firm tape used for strapping and securing heavier items.
- Silicone tape: a low-trauma tape that can be lifted and repositioned.

Documents to ask for
Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, ISO 10993 skin irritation and sensitisation data, and sterilisation validation for sterile items.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Which tape is best for elderly or fragile skin?
Paper and silicone tapes are commonly chosen for fragile skin because they remove with less force. Buyers usually keep a few tape types in stock so staff can match the tape to the skin and what it holds.
