Mobile X-ray unit
A mobile X-ray unit is a wheeled radiography system brought to the patient's bedside. It is used in intensive care units, wards, emergency departments and operating theatres where moving the patient to the radiology room is difficult.
Common types
- Mobile DR unit: integrated flat panel detector and screen for images at the bedside.
- Mobile analogue or CR unit: uses film or imaging plates processed elsewhere.
- Motorised mobile unit: powered drive to reduce the effort of moving it between wards.
- Portable lightweight unit: a small, low power unit for field or home use.

Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or US FDA clearance, destination country registration, ISO 13485 for the maker and IEC 60601-1 with IEC 60601-2-54 test reports.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Can a mobile unit run without a wall socket?
Battery powered units can make a set number of exposures and drive between wards on battery, then recharge from mains. Ask for the stated number of exposures per full charge and the recharge time.
