CT scanner
A CT scanner uses a rotating X-ray tube and detector array to build cross-sectional images of the body. It is used in radiology departments, emergency units and oncology centres for trauma, stroke, chest, abdominal and vascular imaging.
Common types
- 16 to 64 slice CT: the common choice for general hospitals covering routine head, chest and abdominal work.
- 128 slice and above: wider detector coverage for cardiac and fast vascular studies.
- Dual energy CT: acquires at two energy levels to separate materials such as iodine and calcium.
- Refurbished CT: a previously installed system reconditioned for a lower budget, with a defined warranty.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Number of slices and detector coverage in millimetres.
- Gantry bore size, maximum table load and scan range.
- X-ray tube heat capacity and generator power in kW.
- Software packages needed: cardiac, perfusion, dose reduction, 3D reconstruction.
- Workstation, PACS and DICOM integration requirements.
- Site conditions: power supply, room size, shielding and UPS.

Documents to ask for
Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or US FDA clearance, registration in the destination country, ISO 13485 for the maker and IEC 60601-1 with IEC 60601-2-44 test reports. A DICOM conformance statement is also requested.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Does the quotation include installation and room shielding?
It depends on the offer. Installation, applications training and the first warranty period are often included, while radiation shielding, air conditioning and electrical works are usually the buyer's site responsibility. State clearly in the request which of these you expect the supplier to cover.
