Spinal orthosis
A spinal orthosis is a brace worn around the trunk or neck to support, immobilise or correct the spine after injury, surgery or in conditions such as scoliosis. It is used in orthopaedic and spinal clinics, trauma units and by orthotists.
Common types
- Cervical collar: a soft or rigid collar to support or immobilise the neck.
- Lumbosacral orthosis (LSO): a rigid or semi-rigid brace for the lower back.
- Thoracolumbosacral orthosis (TLSO): a body jacket or frame brace for the middle and lower spine.
- Hyperextension brace: a frame that holds the spine extended after some fractures.
- Scoliosis brace: a custom-made brace designed to correct or limit the curve in growing children.

Documents to ask for
Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, and ISO 10993 biocompatibility data for materials in contact with skin.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Are scoliosis braces sold ready-made?
Scoliosis braces are normally custom-made for each patient from measurements, a cast or a 3D scan, following the clinician's prescription. Ready-made spinal braces are used for other indications such as back pain or stable fractures.
