Orthopaedic support and brace

Orthopaedic supports and braces are worn on the body to support, protect or limit movement of joints and muscles after injury, surgery or in long-term conditions. They are sold through hospitals, orthopaedic clinics, pharmacies and sports retailers.

Common types

  • Soft support: an elastic or neoprene sleeve for mild support and compression.
  • Hinged brace: side hinges or stays that control joint movement.
  • Immobiliser: holds a joint in a fixed position after injury or surgery.
  • Lumbar and back support: a belt or brace around the lower back.
  • Wrist, shoulder and neck supports: splints, slings and cervical collars.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

  • Size range and the measurement used to choose the size
  • Material (neoprene, breathable fabric, foam, aluminium stays) and latex-free status
  • Left, right or universal fitting
  • Packing per unit, labelling language and size chart
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration and ISO 13485 for the maker; for materials in skin contact, ISO 10993 biocompatibility data is often requested.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

How do we order the right size mix?

Each maker sizes products by a body measurement, such as knee or waist circumference, so sizes are not interchangeable between makers. Buyers should get the size chart and plan the size mix on past sales or patient data.
