Rehabilitation training equipment

Rehabilitation training equipment helps patients practise movement and rebuild strength after stroke, spinal cord injury, surgery or long illness, often with motor support or feedback. It is used in rehabilitation hospitals, neurology units and specialist therapy centres.

Common types

  • Gait trainer: supports the patient's body weight over a treadmill or frame while they practise walking.
  • Lower limb rehabilitation robot or exoskeleton: moves or supports the legs through walking patterns.
  • Upper limb rehabilitation device: robotic or sensor-based trainer for arm and hand movement, often with games.
  • Motorised arm and leg trainer: a cycle that moves the limbs passively or with assistance.
  • Tilt table and standing frame: brings a patient from lying to upright gradually.

Documents to ask for

Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration, ISO 13485 for the maker and IEC 60601-1 reports; rehabilitation robots may also be tested to IEC 80601-2-78.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

How much space does a gait trainer need?

It varies widely by design. Treadmill-based systems need a dedicated area with room for the frame and staff on both sides, and overhead systems may need ceiling fixing. Buyers should ask for the installation footprint and floor or ceiling load before ordering.
