Crutches and walking sticks
Crutches and walking sticks are hand-held aids that take some of the body's weight off the legs and help with balance. They are used after injuries and surgery, in rehabilitation, and by people with long-term mobility needs.
Common types
- Underarm crutch: rests under the arm with a hand grip, used mainly for short-term injuries.
- Elbow or forearm crutch: a cuff around the forearm, often used for longer periods.
- Walking stick: a single stick with a crook or ergonomic handle.
- Tripod or quad stick: a base with three or four feet for extra stability.
- Folding stick: folds into sections for carrying.

Documents to ask for
Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration and ISO 13485 for the maker; crutches and sticks are commonly tested to the ISO 11334 series.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Why do crutch tips need replacing?
The rubber tip provides grip on the floor and wears down with use, becoming less secure on smooth or wet floors. Buyers usually order spare tips that fit the crutch tube diameter.
