Stethoscope
A stethoscope is used to listen to heart, lung and bowel sounds and, with a cuff, to measure blood pressure manually. It is a basic instrument for doctors, nurses and students in every clinical setting.
Common types
- Single head stethoscope: one diaphragm, simple and light.
- Dual head stethoscope: diaphragm and bell for high and low frequency sounds.
- Cardiology stethoscope: heavier chest piece and thicker tubing for fine heart sounds.
- Paediatric and neonatal stethoscope: smaller chest piece.
- Electronic stethoscope: amplifies sound and may record or transmit it.

Documents to ask for
Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR, ISO 13485 for the maker and the destination country's registration. Electronic models also need IEC 60601-1 test reports.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
What does a cardiology stethoscope add?
It has a heavier chest piece and tubing designed to transmit faint heart sounds more clearly. For general ward use, a standard dual head stethoscope is usually sufficient.
