Ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
Ophthalmic diagnostic equipment is used to examine the eye, measure its optical power and pressure, and image the retina and other structures. It is used in eye hospitals, ophthalmology clinics, optometry practices and screening programmes.
Common types
- Slit lamp: a microscope with a slit of light for examining the front of the eye.
- Autorefractor and keratometer: measure the eye's refractive error and corneal curvature.
- Tonometer: measures intraocular pressure, by air puff, contact or rebound methods.
- Fundus camera and OCT: photograph the retina or produce cross-section images of its layers.
- Visual field analyser: maps the field of vision.
What to tell us when you ask for a quotation
- Device type and the measurements or images required
- For slit lamps: magnification steps, illumination type and camera attachment
- For fundus cameras and OCT: field of view, minimum pupil size, scan types and analysis software
- Data export, network connection and DICOM support
- Instrument table, voltage and plug type
- Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).
Documents to ask for
Buyers usually ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or local registration, ISO 13485 for the maker, IEC 60601-1 reports, and conformity with the ISO 15004 series for ophthalmic instruments.
Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.
Can these devices share data with our patient records system?
Many newer devices export images and results in DICOM or other standard formats, but support varies by model. Buyers should name their records system and ask the maker to confirm export formats before ordering.
