Bronchoscope

A bronchoscope is a flexible or rigid endoscope passed into the airways to examine the trachea and bronchi, take samples and remove secretions or foreign bodies. It is used in respiratory medicine, intensive care and theatres.

Common types

  • Flexible video bronchoscope: reusable scope used with a video processor.
  • Single use bronchoscope: disposable scope with a portable display, used in ICU and theatre.
  • Rigid bronchoscope: for foreign body removal and airway interventions.
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) scope: ultrasound at the tip for sampling lymph nodes.
  • Paediatric bronchoscope: small outer diameter for children.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

Documents to ask for

Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or US FDA clearance, ISO 13485 for the maker and IEC 60601-1 test reports. Single use scopes need sterilisation validation, for example to ISO 11135, while reusable scopes need validated reprocessing instructions.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

When does a single use bronchoscope make sense?

Single use scopes avoid reprocessing and are always available, which suits ICU and emergency airway work. Busy bronchoscopy suites often still find reusable scopes cheaper per procedure.
