Arthroscope

An arthroscope is a small rigid telescope inserted into a joint through a small incision to view and treat it. It is used in orthopaedic and sports medicine surgery on the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, elbow and wrist.

Common types

  • 4 mm 30 degree arthroscope: the common scope for knee and shoulder work.
  • 70 degree arthroscope: for viewing around corners in the shoulder and hip.
  • Small joint arthroscope: 2.7 mm or smaller for wrist, ankle and elbow.
  • Arthroscopy pump: controls fluid pressure and flow in the joint.
  • Shaver system: motorised blades and burrs for removing tissue.

What to tell us when you ask for a quotation

  • Scope diameter, length and viewing angle.
  • Camera system, light source and monitor.
  • Pump type and tubing.
  • Shaver console, handpiece and blade range.
  • Hand instruments and radiofrequency ablation if needed.
  • Quantity, destination country and the delivery terms you want (for example EXW, FOB or CIF).

Documents to ask for

Buyers ask for CE marking under the EU MDR or US FDA clearance, ISO 13485 for the maker and IEC 60601-1 test reports for the electrical units. Single use blades and tubing should come with sterilisation validation, for example to ISO 11135 or ISO 11137.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

Are shaver blades interchangeable between systems?

Usually not, since each handpiece has its own blade hub design. Confirm the handpiece model before ordering blades, as these are a regular consumable cost.
