Agglutination and serology test

Agglutination and serology tests detect antibodies or antigens in blood or serum, often by visible clumping on a plate or slide or by ELISA. They are widely used in veterinary and poultry diagnostics, for example for brucellosis, pullorum disease, mycoplasma, Newcastle disease and avian influenza.

Common types

  • Plate agglutination antigen: rapid test on a glass or plastic plate.
  • Tube agglutination test: quantitative titre in tubes.
  • Latex agglutination kit: antibody coated latex particles for rapid detection.
  • ELISA kit: microplate based test for screening many samples.
  • Haemagglutination inhibition (HI) reagents: for measuring antibody levels after vaccination.

Documents to ask for

Buyers ask for registration with the destination country's veterinary authority, a certificate of analysis per batch, and performance data against the methods in the WOAH Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals.

Certificates and registrations belong to the product and its manufacturer. We check them with you against the rules of your market before any order.

How should serology test kits be shipped?

Most antigens and ELISA kits must be kept at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and shipped with cold packs or by cold chain. Ask for the stability data and plan shipping time before ordering.
